Imaging Resource

The Kodak EasyShare V610 is the world’s smallest 10x optical zoom camera, packing a pair of 6.1-megapixel sensors in its compact two-lens design that provides a wide spectrum of preset shooting modes, an easy-to-understand interface, a handful of creative exposure options, in-camera image enhancement, and Bluetooth wireless technology. Unlike Kodak’s V570, both of the V610’s lenses are zoom lenses. Part of the Kodak “Pocket Series,” the Kodak V610 is very compact, with low-profile controls that won’t snag pockets. It is, however, thicker than the V570.

Kodak EasyShare P880 Review

Kodak EasyShare P880Digital Photography Review

In August 2005 Kodak announced a new class of ‘advanced digital cameras’ with the introduction of the P series, which it hopes will provide an alternative to entry-level DSLRs. The first two models are the EasyShare P850,and the camera on review here, the EasyShare P880. The 8 megapixel P880 offers a fairly unique mix of features, due in no small part to the wideangle 24-140mm equivalent 5.8x zoom. Throw in raw capture, full photographic control and a 2.5-inch screen and you have what - on paper - looks like a very compelling mix of features, though with a price tag of just under $600 it needs to impress if it’s going to provide a real alternative to a digital SLR. Let’s find out if the P880 lives up to its promise, starting with a quick run-down of the key selling points: Fast f/2.8 24???140 mm wide-angle lens, 8.0 MP sensor, Advanced video features, Hot shoe flash connector and PC flash sync, Program, aperture priority, shutter priority, manual, custom modes, Proprietary RAW file format and Histogram technology with highlight and shadow clipping.

Kodak EasyShare P850Digital Camera Resource Page

The EasyShare P850 is one of two cameras in Kodak’s new Performance series of digital cameras. The P850 (reviewed here) features a 12X stabilized zoom lens, while its sibling the P880 (review to come) features a 24 mm wide-angle lens. The P850 is Kodak’s first ultra zoom with image stabilization, a feature which is becoming more and more popular in the ultra zoom category. Other features include a 5 Megapixel CCD, full manual controls, large 2.5″ LCD, hot shoe, and VGA movie mode. The ultra zoom category is one of the most competitive out there, so Kodak has its work cut out for them. How does the P850 compare to the best cameras in this class?

Kodak EasyShare Z740 Review

Kodak EasyShare Z740Digital Photography Reviews

The first quarter of 2005 saw Kodak expanding its ‘big zoom’ range with three new ‘Z series’ EasyShare cameras, including two 10x optical, 5MP models; the Z7590 (a minor update of the DX7590 adding compatibility with the latest printer dock) and the slightly lower cost, lower-spec model reviewed here, the Z740. The Z740 aims to offer an easy-to-use, very compact and relatively affordable entry-point to the increasingly popular ’super zoom’ end of the market, while still offering a fairly comprehensive set of manual overrides. The Z740 is available (in most areas) as a standalone camera or as part of a value-added ‘Digital Photo Solution’, bundled with an EasyShare Printer Dock Series 3 (6×4-inch thermal dye direct-printer and camera charger) and NiMH rechargeable battery for the camera.
